Powering transparency in traceability
An open-access platform helping stakeholders make informed decisions through structured, neutral insights into digital traceability tools.
Developed by experts
The Navigator is a joint initiative of Preferred by Nature and World Wildlife Fund, combining deep expertise in sustainability assurance, supply chain transformation, and digital innovation. Together, we've built a platform grounded in credibility and real-world usability.
Driven by a clear purpose
Our goal is to provide a neutral, trusted space where stakeholders can make informed choices, align around shared expectations, and accelerate the adoption of credible traceability tools that support people, nature, and climate.
Our governance
The project is overseen by a Steering Group comprising Preferred by Nature, WWF and ISEAL. Together, we provide strategic direction and ensure the initiative is grounded in strong expertise, independence and recognised best practice.

About the Traceability Tools Navigator
The Traceability Tools Navigator is an open-access platform designed to bring transparency and clarity to the growing field of digital traceability solutions. As companies face increasing pressure to comply with regulations like the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), the Navigator helps them explore and compare tools based on structured, neutral criteria—supporting smarter, more confident decision-making.
Preferred by Nature position statement on supply chain tools
Preferred by Nature sees its role as facilitator and supporter of effective and transparent use of credible traceability and supply chain tools. We do this through providing impartial information, technical insight and, where relevant, independent verification of tool features through established processes. We do not develop or promote proprietary software solutions, nor do we privilege or mandate the use of any specific tools. We work openly with a wide range of tool providers and users to strengthen data quality, interoperability, accountability and informed decision-making across supply chains, while safeguarding neutrality, client choice and trust. To ensure this role is applied consistently and transparently, the principles below set out what Preferred by Nature can and cannot do in its engagement with traceability tool providers and users.
Preferred by Nature may:
- recommend suitable tools for our partners and clients.
- support and advise tool providers on how to improve their tools, including testing, feedback on features and other types of support and advice.
- provide services to tool users, interacting with or complementing tool provider services except where the tool is mandated by a scheme that Preferred by Nature audits to.
- procure services from tool providers.
- claims that Preferred by Nature has formally assessed certain tools against meeting certain requirements may only be done through the established, transparent and impartial verification process under the Traceability Tools Navigator (TTN).
Preferred by Nature does not:
- enter into exclusive partnerships with any tool providers.
- develop or provide competing software solutions itself.
- impose any tools on its partners or clients or enter into agreements that require or assume the use of any specific tools. Clients are always free to choose the tools that best fit their needs.
